I am back in the mountains of Spain. Another beautiful, sunny day, if just a little warm. The grasshoppers were thick on the south slopes as the trail sidehilled down in the afternoon.
The morning was a bit of a grind, with too much asphalt for the first couple hours. After the village of Buiza it was straight uphill, first on a gravel 4-wheel drive road and then a trail. My Colorado summer hiking paid off as I made it to the top before I needed a fuel and water break.
The plan is for two short days after these two long ones. Tomorrow's 15 km does include the highest point on the Camino Salvador.
