Day 3 Mataelpino

A very nice morning and a wet afternoon.
About 22 km today, which is just about a perfect distance for us. We got an early start hoping to beat the rain. A wonderful dirt track with a temperature about 50F, it was a fine morning. A friendly coffee shop for a midday break (with lots of hunting trophies on the walls, so even better).
The rain started soon after our stop, and uphill with rain gear on is always tough. But it was a short afternoon and a warm welcome by x and x, the couple that keeps the refuge in Mataelpino.
A few hints for future pilgrims. The trail is very well marked but I still recommend Maps.me or some other gps based system. There are no services between towns and knowing where you are can be valuable. During rainy periods, I would recommend the bicycle path from Tres Cantos to Colmenar Viejo. The albergue in Mataelpino is most easily reached by taking the first major right turn as you enter town, it will be on the right, it is quite nice.

A few pictures to capture the spirit of the day.
